Panther was our resident "ratter".  He helped us keep the rat population down, this isn't an easy task as we live in the country and in an old farmhouse with an old shed and barn! He was a very affectionate cat and loved the dogs.  I have even seen him go into the dog pens to get a drink of water when his bowl is empty.  He would also sleep with the dogs when it was too cold for him.
